Garage door rollers are more important than you may think.
Recently, a client asked us to come inspect his garage door because it was being extremely noisy. He said he could hear the door moving all the way from his bedroom on the other side of the house. He liked being able to hear his kids coming and going, but garage doors are not supposed to be that loud!
We took a listen, and we agreed.
We could think of a couple of possible explanations—it could be the springs, the door, the rail, or the rollers. A brief inspection convinced us it was, yes, the rollers.
Garage door rollers are often overlooked and underappreciated, but the roller attaches the garage door to the tracks, so if something were to go wrong, it could lead to much more than just a loud noise—the door could actually come loose. So, this now moves the maintenance call from nuisance territory into a safety issue. Safety is our main concern here at Garage Door and More, so fixing the problem right away became our top priority.
We recommend that everyone give their rollers an inspection at least twice a year. Finding and fixing any minor issues now is a great way to avoid dangerous and expensive problems later. And if you are unsure of what you are looking at, call a professional to come help you with the inspection.
So, yeah we fixed our client’s noisy rollers. He joked about needing to come up with another way to keep track of his kids, but really? The look on his face when he finally saw—but could not hear—his garage door working?
That’s why we do what we do.
