Yes, baseballs cause real garage door damage
As kids, my friends and I used to play backyard baseball every Saturday—but we wouldn’t play in the backyard. We always played in the driveway.
Simply put, we were lazy. We didn’t want to chase every wild pitch that my brother would throw, so we decided to use the garage door as a backstop.
At the time, I thought he was just being a grouch, but now I understand—it’s not just about cosmetic damage, either. The constant pounding of a ball on the garage door could lead to broken springs or even push the door off track. Such problems are dangerous, as well as expensive to fix.
So next time you see your kids throwing a ball in the direction of your garage door, don’t worry about what they think of you. Tell them to quit being lazy and have them play out back!
